A five goal to none final quarter blitz secured an emphatic win for ladder leaders Fitzroy last weekend, as they secured the minor premiership with a scintillating 26 point win away at East Malvern.

After trailing for three quarters in the windy and muddy conditions, Fitzroy proved their fitness and hunger in the last term with twenty minutes of inspired football. In one of their best final quarters of 2006 the Roys were simply flawless as they banged on goal after goal against their inform rivals.

Alexander Croft excelled in the final term with his on-ball cameo, working hand-in-hand with Dom Pound-Palmieri to give the side plenty of run in the dying stages. Hugh Lanphier-Walsh and Jordan Batten also lifted in the last with Fitzroy showing few signs of weakness despite the absence of Justin Galligan on the ball.

Jesse Radonic was back at his best after seriously injuring his knee at Bundoora earlier this year, his left foot monster goal from thirty-five out a sure nomination for goal of the year. Toby Anderson was also sensational in the last, kicking one goal and assisting in another couple, while the side's defence were as resolute as ever in nullifying any East Malvern attack.

Michael Kruger worked hard all day getting little respite from the ruck, while backman Sean Dillane, Jason Hewitson and Dylan Patcas continued their top run of form of recent.

Single handedly preventing a number of goals in the first three quarters Dylan was as handy as ever stopping everything and anything kicked in his direction. Sean was also at his best for all of the four quarters, his smother early in the last quarter the catalyst for the side's win.

Fifteen rounds down and just one to go, a home fixture against Balwyn remains before the boys taste finals football for the second time in as many years.
