Colts 2008

Colts football in the Yarra Junior League is a great opportunity to take your football to another level.
It is a very good standard of football with a mixture of players wanting to move up into the TAC competition as well as players who want to enjoy their football with friends in a very competitive environment.

Pre-Season Training

Pre-season training comprises a mix of skill work, running and swimming. We also do some skill and fitness testing so players have a reference point to know how much they are improving when they are retested just prior to the season beginning.

• Mondays & Wednesdays, 5.30pm - 7.00pm @ Brunswick Street.

• Bring runners, drink bottle & sunscreen.

Colts Camp - Saturday & Sunday 15/16 March

We also hold a pre-season training camp which we strongly urge all players to attend to help maximise their fitness, understanding of the Colts game strategy and to get to know your team mates better.
The camp is normally held over the weekend in late March (1 night) with a practice game held sometime during the camp.

Players are divided into groups for the weekend and compete in a series of activities over the weekend including the Colts Classic Football Trivia quiz on the Saturday night.
Activities include soccer, basketball low ropes, team challenges and some timed runs.

The Fitzroy Colts Player booklet is also presented and discussed at the training camp. This is a living document which is added to throughout the year.

In Season Training

Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the season from 5.00pm-6.30pm.

Tuesday nights feature drills central to the Colts game plan.
Thursday is more of a touch & tactic refinement session.

Guest trainers are a feature of our training. Coaches and players from senior clubs conduct general and specialised sessions.

TAC Competition

For those players interested in playing at the highest level, the TAC clubs relevant to our localities ( Calder, Northern, Oakleigh ) have a strong interest in the Yarra Junior Colts sections. Opportunities exist for selected players to participate in training sessions and practice games throughout the course of the season.

We hope to see you down at Fitzroy in 2008.
