Fitzroy V Warrandyte (Round 8)

We did it!

Sunday saw the boys head out early into the fog bound for Warrandyte.

Coming off a good game and near miss against Canterbury, I was hopeful the boys would build on last weeks performance, and they did exactly that. With simple instructions, kick long to our targets at centre half and full forward, use the corridor on the small ground and let the scoreboard take care of itself.

The game plan was executed well from the beginning as requested, Fitzroy looked in good position early to get on top of the opposition. James M and Alexander controlled the centre corridor well and provided solid targets for our long kicking game plan. Chris again showed slick hands in the forward fifty, taking some excellent grabs and proving a handful for the opposition, assisted well by Patty and Toby.  Hugh & Michael worked well in the ruck, good support was provided by Dom, Justin and Sean in his first game in the engine room this year. Jesse and Jordan provided plenty of run from the wings, Jordan's ability to grab the ball, back himself and accelerate away from his opponent is fantastic to watch. Special mentions to Alexander for his efforts when the ball is in the air, and his ferocity at the ball and opposition when the ball was at ground level. James H was a good contributor, roving well at the feet of our tall timber to finish the game with two goals. Jacob took some great great contested marks in heavy traffic, and followed through to put two extra goals on the board and help the boys carry their momentum through to the final siren

A solid effort by all players contributed to a comprehensive victory making special mentions difficult. It was excellent to see all players lift in the last two weeks to play the brand of good football we all know they are capable of, and victory was the result.

Look out Greythorn this week!
