St Marys W vs FITZROY 3

This was a very early start to a Sunday morning, with a lot of yawning by boys and parents alike. The first goal went to St. Mary’s, the slippery, dewy ball making play difficult. A free kick to Alex was capitalized by a goal. We were then on a roll. A mark in front of goal by James resulting in a goal, a goal to Darcy, two fantastic marks by Adam and James again. We ended the quarter with four goals after Alex kicked his second.

The second quarter started like this first, with the first goal going to St. Mary’s. And Fitzroy’s first goal going to Alex, his third. This passage of play involved a great mark to Noah, who then kicked it to Martin, who kicked to Nick N who passed to Alex…. Fitzroy had the ball at their end most of the quarter, when St. Mary’s managed to get to get the ball out, Isaac twice got the ball and booted back into attack. When the siren sounded at half time Fitzroy lead, 5 goals 7 points to St. Mary’s 2 goals 3 points.

Third quarter saw most of the play down St. Mary’s end, but we defended the opposition’s goal keeping their score to 2 goals 5 points. We kicked 1 goal, 1 point with our only goal for the quarter going to Isaac.

Two straight kicks was all that separated the teams going into the final term. While the last quarter didn’t produce “pretty” football, both teams fought hard. Charlie’s mark in defence was an example of the endeavor our boys showed, in the end Fitzroy’s 3 points to St Mary’s 1 point didn’t change the outcome of the game, a win to the Roys.

Well Done boys and coaching staff, have a good rest next week ready for our Round 11 match against Bulleen-Templestowe
