FITZROY 3 vs FITZROY 2

West Coast and Fremantle, Port Adelaide and Adelaide, now it was Fitzroy Blue 2 and Fitzroy Blue 3 turn to contest in their own derby, at the Brunswick Street Oval- the home of Fitzroy.

During the first quarter, we defended the opposition goal with the opening score two points against us. Then, a strong attack by us, kicking two goals. First by Himi, and the second by Mick, who also took two magnificent marks. Adam’s first quarter saw him take three strong marks.

During the second quarter, Mick added to our score with another goal. Isaac and Adam continued to chase the ball, running and tackling. Captain for the Day, Michael took a great mark in defence, to keep the other Roys “goal-less” in the second quarter. Fitzroy Blue 3 went into the rooms at half time with an 11-point lead.

During the last few weeks, our third quarter is our weakest quarter and unfortunately, it was the case again this round. The other Roys, kicked 4 goals, 7 points to our 1 goal; a soccer kick off the ground, by Nick N, a goal that Lionel Messi would be proud of!

We went into the fourth quarter 14 points down, but the boys didn’t give up, each team adding 2 goals to the respective scores; James, in the last line of defence with three superb marks, Adam marking and kicking the ball up the field, and Mick kicking his third goal, closing the gap to 8 points. 50 gamer, Alex kicked his first goal after taking a strong mark from Elia.
