FITZROY 2 v RICHMOND GREENS 25th July 2010

This was the game Coach Howard wanted the Roys to win. Many a time we had played Richmond with mixed results. The last meeting in Round 7 against Richmond was a tough game, and the Roys were ready for another tough game.

The Roys opened the game with the first pointl, Jesse then attacked to get a point on the board. James took a great mark and passed the ball to Elia who speared the ball down the Roy's end. Isaac then added to the score with a point. Jesse continued to attack, however Richmond fought back scoring two points and a goal. This was a hard game! The Roys kicked another point, then a goal to Richmond. Scoring oportunities had been the same, but Richmond were 15 points up.

The second quarter, the first two scores, a point and a goal went to Richmond. Great work by, Martin, Sam and Josh valiantly trying to get the ball to the Roy's end. Richmond scored a goal, then a point to the Roys. Finally, James kicked the Roy's first GOAL. Himi took one of his strong marks in defence, the ball was then back in Richmond's hands added two more goal to the scoreboard. Richmond again got the ball, adding another point and a goal to their score. at the half time break Richmond were 5 goals up.

The half time snakes and oranges revitalised the Roys! Tom kicked a GOAL, Richmond then kicked two more points. Nick then with the ball, passed the ball to John who kicked a GOAL. Richmond quickly responded with two more goal. Michael T, then added to the score with a point. The ball was down in the Roy's goal square, a ball-up by the umpire and Himi got the ball and GOALed. Josh took a great mark, before the end of the quarter Richmond added another point and a goal to their score.

The final quarter, the Roys were down, but didn't give up. The Roys kicked three points to Richmond's three goals. Then Tom kicked his senond goal for the game, and isaac a point, Richmond replied with another 6 pointer. the last two scores of the game were two points to the Roys.

Great effort team! We knew it would be tough and It was!
