Three More Roy Boys Off to the AFL

FJFC would like to wholeheartedly congratulate Dylan Buckley, Hal Hunter and Michael Mascoulis on being drafted to the AFL.

All three played together in the Under 15 Section 1 premiership side in 2008 under Matt McLennan (pictured below). Michael describes it as his best year of junior football by far and will never forget it.

Hal and Dylan started at FJFC together in 2002 as 8 year olds in the U10 Green team and stayed together until the U15 premiership year. They also enjoyed a premiership together in 2004 in the U11 Golds.

Michael joined Fitzroy in 2007 in the U14s, crossing over from St. Marys. Both Dylan and Michael played TAC cup footy with the Northern Knights and Hal with the Calder Cannons. Dylan was also part of the AIS player program.
 
Dylan is the son of Carlton legend Jim Buckley and was drafted to Carlton under the father-son rule. Hal and Michael, who were both affected by hamstring injuries in 2011, have been rookied to Essendon and
West Coast respectively.

We know that all three young men have worked incredibly hard to make it this far, and we are all looking forward to the next exciting steps. Their former junior coaches, with special mention to Matt McLennan, should take great pride in being part of the achievement.

Season 2012 Coaching Appointments

FJFC is pleased to announce the appointment of our Colts and U15 coaches for season 2012. The remainder of the coaching team will be announced closer to our registration day on Sunday 12th February. Please keep monitoring our website for information about further coaching appointments and pre-season training dates.

Registration – Fitzroy Junior Football Club 2012

Re-Registration for all 2011 FJFC players who wish to play football for FJFC in 2012 is now available and may only be completed online.  All 2011 players will be sent an email with details of how to register and pay their fees.

Registrations of new players is only available in person at Brunswick Street Oval Committee Rooms on Sunday 12 February from 9am till 12pm.  You will need to bring with you a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport and money/cheque to pay the Registration Fee of $185. Please note that only those players born in 2003 or before are eligible to register.

Registration 2012 – Special Call for U15 Players

FJFC is looking for new U15 players in 2012 with a view to fielding two sides. Boys born in calendar year 1997 are eligible.

Registration Day for new players will be held at Brunswick St Oval on February 12.

Welcome to the New Committee...and Thanks to the Old

FJFC is delighted to welcome five new members to the Committee following the AGM on 24 October. Pennie Hayes is our new Secretary and will continue in the registration secretary role. She takes over from Robert Bluer.

Kathryn Andrews steps into the Treasurer's role in place of Michael Burke. Dean Robinson, Paul Broderick and Mark Buttifant join Melita Stevens and Tom Curnow as (much more than) ordinary members. Andrea Hodder, Michael Hanna and Martin Kellock have stepped down. FJFC would like to thank the retiring members for their many hours of unpaid, unstinting service and warmly welcome the new members. Preparations for 2012 are already underway, with registration day for new players set down for Sunday 12 February. Enjoy the off-season and keep checking this site for updates.
